We believe that safety is a team effort.  Prior to heading to site our field crews undergo extensive training to ensure they are adequately prepared to perform their job duties safely.  We have two internal trainers who work on-site with our drill crews to get them MiHR (Mining Industry Human Resources) and OCC (Ontario Common Core) certifications. This skill development training helps us to maintain a strong team which minimizes our clients’ risk and contributes to our strong safety record.  We have created a Drill Reference manual that has detailed work instructions for all of the tasks the field crews need to perform while at site, to ensure that they are done in a consistent and safe manner.

Our EHS team deliver job specific orientations to all crew members heading out to work. Once on site, both visitors and crew undergo an on-site safety orientation to ensure that they are aware of the risks, rules and safe work practices associated with each contract.  On top of this, new driller’s helpers are given an extra task-specific orientation by their driller to make sure that they understand their responsibilities for keeping their drill site safe.  Our employees are always empowered to refuse work they feel to be hazardous or unsafe, and any concerns or recommendations they have can be submitted to our Hazard ID Program.  This program is instrumental in getting suggestions from the field that the management team can then use to continually improve our safety practices, equipment and procedures.  Regular field visits by our EHS and Managements teams ensure that our safety standards are continually being met.

We’ve even developed a Hy-Tech Mobile app to give the field team quick and easy access to everything they need to make their job safe; detailed work instructions for all of the tasks performed at the drill site, Safety Data Sheets, and Pre-Operation Inspections.
