  1. APPLY
    The first step is to apply online, and ensure you upload the correct supporting documents. This will include:
    • Non-Field Application: Cover Letter, Resume and training certificates.
    • Field Application: Resume, Drivers Abstract/Record, valid First Aid Certificate*

    *First Aid Requirements:
    BC Residents: Standard First Aid with CPR C & Transportation Endorsement
    Non-BC Residents: Standard First Aid with CPR C
  2. INTERVIEW & REFERENCE CHECK
    Interviews take place over the phone, unless you’re applying in Smithers or Saskatoon. During the interview we will ensure not only that you meet the technical requirements of the position, but also that Hy-Tech is a good fit for you.
  3. PRE-EMPLOYMENT ASSESSMENTS
    • Driller’s Helper: Drug and Alcohol Test, Physical Demands Assessment*
    • Driller & Foreman: Drug and Alcohol Test
    *The Physical Demands Assessment, which was designed specifically for the Driller’s Helper position by a Physiotherapist, tests you for the real physical requirements you’ll face while you’re at work. This assessment will determine if you are able to safely perform the duties of a Driller’s Helper.

  4. HIRING PACKAGE
    Upon successful completion of the Pre-Employment Assessments, you’ll receive your hiring package. The hiring package will be sent and signed electronically to expedite the process. This includes an email introduction to our online learning platform. Online training allows us to reach a geographically distributed workforce and ensures all new and existing employees are prepared and have the required training to commence work. Courses include legally required training (e.g. WHMIS, TDG, Spill Response), as well as Hy-Tech developed equipment and worksite specific courses.
