Safe to the core.

Going home is the most important part of the day.

A safe and healthy workplace is everyone’s right and responsibility. It’s a shared obligation and a reflection of our values. Through training, leadership, and care for one another, we make safety part of everything we do.

Building safety into everything we do

How we protect our people.

Our approach to safety combines proactive planning, ongoing training, and open communication. These pillars ensure that every person, from drill site to office, can work confidently, knowing their well-being comes first.

Prevention first

We plan every task with safety in mind: identifying and understanding risks allows us to set clear controls, and follow proven procedures to eliminate hazards before work begins.

Empowered people

Every employee has the authority and responsibility to stop unsafe work. We encourage open dialogue, shared learning, and proactive reporting to foster continuous improvement.

Continuous learning

Across all regions, our crews build skills through tailored training programs, local certifications, and regular field support. Ongoing mentorship and detailed task instruction help every team member work safely.

Technology that supports safety

Our teams have instant access to current versions of safe work instructions, inspection checklists, and safety data sheets — helping crews make informed, safe decisions wherever they are.

Adapting to every site.

Safety requirements can vary by region, client, and site conditions, and we’re ready for all of them. Our teams adapt to local regulations and operational realities while maintaining one consistent goal: to elevate every project to the highest industry standard.

We believe that safety is a team effort.

Before heading to site or working at a branch, every team member completes thorough training to ensure they’re prepared to work safely and effectively. Our dedicated trainers provide hands-on instruction tailored to each region, building skilled teams that reduce client risk and strengthen our global safety performance.

Identifying, controlling and eliminating risks.

Hy-Tech Drilling operates under a robust health and safety management system designed to identify, control, and eliminate risks across all regions where we work. Our approach aligns with international best practices and is supported by recognized certifications such as ISO 45001:2018 in Canada, along with regional safety accreditations. We are currently working on standardizing these practices globally.

Clear work instructions.

Every task at Hy-Tech follows detailed, standardized procedures outlined in our Drill Reference Manual. Our Health & Safety and Sustainability teams provide thorough orientations before each assignment, ensuring every crew member and visitor understands site-specific risks and safe work practices. New Driller’s Helpers also receive additional task-focused training directly from their Driller.

Loads of safety features.

Our Tech 5000 rigs are built with safety at every level — from automated shutdowns and guarding systems to ergonomic rod handling and custom features that adapt to site-specific requirements. Because we design and manufacture our own drills, we can continuously evolve them internally to meet new operational demands. Every detail is engineered to protect our crews and keep operations running safely and efficiently.

A culture of continuous improvement.

Safety doesn’t stop at compliance. Employees are encouraged to share concerns and ideas that drive ongoing improvements to our processes and equipment. Regular site visits, and tools like our Hy-Tech app which gives mobile access to safety resources help us maintain consistent standards and set the benchmark for safety excellence in drilling.
