Overview of the position

Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, Trades Professionals are responsible for the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of Hy-Tech’s drills and support equipment. Working from modern shop facilities and project locations, they ensure that every rig and component meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance. 

Their work includes mechanical repair, welding, machining, and assembly—following standardized procedures and collaborating closely with field crews to minimize downtime. Trades Professionals also contribute to equipment innovation and improvement, supporting the ongoing development of Hy-Tech’s proprietary drilling technology. 

Key responsibilities

  • Builds, repairs, and maintains drills and support equipment according to Hy-Tech’s standards and procedures.
  • Ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality.
  • Performs inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborates with field crews and supervisors to prioritize and complete work orders.
  • Assists in the design and fabrication of new components and improvements to existing systems.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe shop environment at all times.

Required qualifications

  • Recognized trade certification or apprenticeship status (mechanic, welder, machinist, fabricator, or related).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and follow standard procedures.
